Our School

Welcome!

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Mountain View Elementary, we welcome you to our diverse learning community!  Our parents, families, friends, community partners, teachers, staff and students are all active members of our learning community.  We are proud of the many cultures and languages represented in our school.

Our goal is to provide our students with high quality instruction while preparing them to be productive members of a 21st century society.  In keeping with Mountain View’s commitment to academic excellence, our school is dedicated to providing the following to ensure that every student reaches their highest potential.

We offer two program options:

  1. Mainstream English Program
  2. A research-based Dual Language Program (English/Armenian) that allows students to develop literacy and content knowledge in two languages! (*The very first Armenian program of it’s kind in LAUSD!)

An important piece of our success is parent involvement.  Your active participation in your child’s education is appreciated.  We look forward to our collaboration as we work together to meet the needs of our 21st Century learners.

About Mountain View

Our School.....

Mountain View Elementary School is a small community-based school nestled in the beautiful foothills of Tujunga.  In 2006, Mountain View was recognized as a California Distinguished School. In 2007 and 2008, we received the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award. Many of our teachers have more than 10 years of experience in education.  All members of the staff are dedicated to supporting students in their academic, social and emotional growth.

Our school consists of approximately 390 students in grades Transitional Kindergarten through Fifth Grade in both Mainstream English program and Dual Language Armenian program.  We are a Title I school serving a diverse student population.  We are also lucky to have a half-time librarian, a computer lab, and a parent center.

We encourage parent and community involvement.  Our Parent Center regularly hosts meeting of the English Learner Advisory Committee and School Site Council.  Our Parent Center Director works hard to provide numerous parent workshops each year that focus on a variety of topics including family health, child self-esteem, and parenting skills.  We embrace parents and community members as a vital part of our learning community.

We nurture the whole child through our academic program which includes art education, character education, technology, and critical thinking. We emphasize 21st Century skills in all academic areas.
